Back in April 2020, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands entered the Alpha testing phase and now, four months later, we’ve learned that it will officially launch on October 27, 2020. The news comes courtesy of an official release date trailer and a trailer for the first short of the expansion, Shadowlands Afterlives: Bastion.
The release date trailer that you see above doesn’t give us a whole lot of context, but Blizzard has given us something to work with:
“Upon entering the Shadowlands, Azeroth’s champions will encounter an otherworld in disarray. Virtuous souls are being wrongfully cast into the eternal darkness of the Maw, while the Covenants—powerful factions who hold dominion over the afterlife’s disparate realms—face ruin and strife as the flow of the Shadowlands’ essential anima mysteriously dwindles.”
As you can see, World of Warcraft is about to get a lot bigger.
What is World of Warcraft Shadowlands All About?
We know that the Shadowlands expansion will bring five new zones for us to explore, along with new dungeons and new raids. The Tower of the Damned will also be on the docket and the level cap will be brought down to just 60. In the midst of everything, you’ll be able to align with one of four different Covenants, all of which allow you to earn class-specific abilities, traits and other bonuses.
What’s The Difference Between Shadowlands Heroic Edition and Epic Edition?
As you already know, there will be two different versions of Shadowlands released: Heroic and Epic. The Heroic Editions comes with a character boost and Ensorcelled Everwyrm Mount. You’ll get access to a questline that will reward you with the Vestments of the Eternal Traveler transmogrification set. The Epic edition includes everything that comes in the Heroic Edition, but also comes with the Anima Wyrmling pet, Eternal Traveler’s Hearthstone, Wraithchill cosmetic weapon effect, and 30 days of game time.
