After more than enough poking and prodding, Blizzard has finally announced some details about its PvP content plan for WoW Classic. We already knew that it would be rolled it in six phases and that it would be released in its most basic form in summer of 2019. Now, the company has told us that it will follow the original WoW release pattern, assumingly as a way to preserve the whole “classic” feel to the game. In other words, there won’t exactly be a formal PvP system when WoW Classic launches. Instead, it will come later on, probably in the second phase.
What Does No Formal PvP System Mean for Wow Classic?
The lack of a formal PvP system during the initial launch of WoW Classic means that you’ll be able to kill your fellow players without even being penalized whatsoever because, without a typical PvP system, there is no such thing as a dishonorable kill. Well, not as far as the game is concerned anyway as you’ll still be considered a douchebag by your fellow players (and, hopefully, you conscience) for committing such acts. Now, this will only last for so long as, eventually, Blizzard will roll out phase 2, which will include an Honor System and PvP rank rewards. Oh, and those rewards, by the way, won’t be easy to get either. They will only be rewarded as you rank up and Blizzard has said that “it will require a substantial time investment to rank up through the Honor System.”
Wow Classic Phase 3 Will Bring Even More Goodies; Future Phases Bring More Content
When Phase 3 rolls out we’ll get access to Alterac Valley and Warsong Gulch battlegrounds as well as their associated vendors. However, there is on big caveat to mention – not all items will be available at vendors when Phase 3 rolls out. And, that’s for good reason. See, Items like The Spell Penetration trinkets from Warsong Gulch weren’t available in the original WoW until the 1.9 patch rolled out, so we probably won’t see them or other items that came later in the game until at least Phase 5. When Phase 4 rolls out, Blizzard will introduce Arathi Basin while Phase 6 will bring Silithus and the Eastern Plaguelands along with world PvP objectives.
World of Warcraft Classic Release Date
As of now, WoW Classic doesn’t have an official release date. All we know so far is that Blizzard will release it sometime in Summer of 2019. We do have a basic rundown of the phase release schedule, but outside of that, we have nothing else to go by.
