There Will Be Lots of Free DLC Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War

Following the release of the new Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War trailer, Activision has announced that the game would be privy to plenty of free DLC, something that has worked well The Witcher 3 and was met with excitement for the soon-to-launch Cyberpunk 2077.

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Free DLC and Battle Pass

Following Activision’s announcement that COD Black Ops Cold War would get free DLC post launch, we’ve learned that the first DLC pack will be a set of new multiplayer maps. This will mark the first time that we haven’t had to pay for DLC in the Black Ops series and it should help keep the game more balanced as all players will have access to the same maps. Future DLC packs will include more maps and additions to the now-confirmed zombies mode – yes; there’ will be a zombies mode.

On that note, COD Black Ops Cold War will also have a Battle Pass system, just like Modern Warfare. That doesn’t mean it’ll have the same features that we’re familiar with from MW, but the one thing that will be familiar is paying for it – this will not be one of the free-to-play aspects of Cold War. If you purchase the Ultimate Edition of Black Ops Cold War at launch, Activision will throw in the Season 1 Battle Pass along with your purchase. Whether or not there will be any type of free teir remains to be seen.

Black Ops Cold War Zombies

As I mentioned earlier, Cold War will also have a Zombies mode built in, and it’s now been confirmed shortly after a leak that claimed the same. Any expansion to this mode is also said to be free, so you can expect the usual Zombies experience in that regard – there will probably be a new zombie map with every new map pack that comes our way. However, it should be noted that most of the Cold War’s DLC will be focused around multiplayer, which isn’t surprising given that multiplayer is the reason most people play COD for the multiplayer experience.

When Does Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Launch?

There’s still plenty to learn about Cold War, and we’re sure to hear more soon. Black Ops Cold War is scheduled to launch on November 13 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. A next-gen version of the game for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X is in development, but don’t expect that to launch before the end of 2020 at the earliest.
