The Best Sims 4 Mods And How To Install Them

Are you ready to take The Sims 4 to the next level? Tired of the few tweaks available in the Gallery feature? Well, there are an insane number of mods out there that can completely change the way you play the game. We’ve compiled a list of some of the best mods out there, including some major mods and a few that just add a little extra for your sims to do. With this list of mods, you can completely change the way the game operates or simply make your Sims lives easier (or harder). If you don’t know how to install mods, yet, it’s super simple, and we’ll teach you how to do that first.

How to Install The Sims 4 Mods on PC

Once you’ve downloaded the mod or mods of your choice, open a windows explorer window and navigate to your Electronics Arts folder (usually C:/Electronic Arts or C:/program files/Electronic Arts). From here, enter “The Sims 4” folder, and finally, navigate to the “Mods” folder. Next, simply drag your recently downloaded mods into the mods folder. Chances are that windows identifies these as a zip folder (some have a .ts4script or .package extension) but don’t worry about unzipping them. Just leave them as they are.

Installing The Sims 4 mods on Mac is just as simple as windows, however, the location of the mods folder is a little different thanks to Mac OS’ file system. In Mac OS, navigate to Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4>Mods and drag your recently download mods into the folder. As a reminder, your documents folder is located in Mackintosh HD>Users>Username.

How to Activate Mods In the Sims 4

Now that you’ve put your new mods files in the correct place, boot up the game and go straight to “Game Options”. In this menu, you need to activate “Enable Custom Content and Mods” and “Script Mods Allowed.” Once you’ve done this, boot into your saved game as usual and enjoy your new mods.

MC Command Center

The Mc Command Center mod is an absolute must have if you’re going to step into the world of modding The Sims 4. This mega mod installs a control panel in the game that allows you to tweak just about every aspect of your Sims’ lives throughout the neighborhood. I like to refer to it as the God mod, as that’s essentially what you become. You can find out who’s pregnant, abort babies (seriously), change the amount of time it takes a sim to do something (like showering or eating) and even set employment rates and ages as you see fit.

UI Cheats Extension – Super Easy Cheating

If you’re tired of typing in cheats everytime you start playing the game, then the UI Cheats Extension mod is exactly what you need. By adding this mod, you’ll be able to open a special menu with every cheat from the game just a click away, no typing required. It’s fast, easy, and a no-brainer if you ask me.

Sims 3 Traits Mod (Pets Included)

We’re not sure what EA was thinking when it decided that we should only be able to apply three traits to our sims (down from 6 in The Sims 3) but, thankfully, there’s a mod to solve that problem. With this mod, you can add more Create a Sim traits, and you can even use it for pets too!

No More Poor Personality Problems

There’s a lot of needless and, well, boring chitchat between sims in The Sims 4. This mod is an extensive one, but it will force your Sims to interreact with each other, using artificial intelligence to determine of the conversation goes down. If your Sims have a good history, they might get along just fine, but if there’s been problems in the past, things could get real and hands could be thrown.

Sim Height Slider

It might be a little thing, but once you notice it, it will probably bug you. What am I talking about? Well, the height of your Sims, of course. Have you ever noticed that tehya re all the same exact height? Oh, I’m sorry, you didn’t notice until now? Well, the good news is that it won’t bug you for long because you can download the Sim Height slider and make your Sims different height. Make a little person, make a big person – the choice is yours.

Sims SupeSpeed Mod

The Sims 4 has had a bug since it launched that has never been fixed. I’m talking about the super speed time lapse that works, in my experience, about half the time. Sometimes it triggers but doesn’t go fast enough while other times it doesn’t trigger at all. So, anytime your Sims go to sleep or all leave the house, just hit the 3 key twice and SupeSpeed will kick in.

BuildBuyMode Unlocker

If you’re tired of waiting to buy that one room layout or item because your Sim just isn’t getting his career in order, then this mod is for you. Once installed, every single item and room layout will be unlocked and buyable.

Buy Fishing Ponds

Instead of travelling every time your Sims go fishing (and dealing with an annoying loading screen), wouldn’t it be nice to have your very own pond in your back yard? Well, with the Buyable Ponds mod, you can do exactly that. This mod will supply you with a selection of various ponds that you can install right on your property.

Ownable Cars Mod

Being able to drive around the neighborhood was, arguably, one of the best parts of The Sims 3. Unfortunately, that feature didn’t make it into The Sims 4, until now. Thanks to the ownable cars mod, your sims will be able to buy and drive their very own cars – just the way it’s supposed to be.

Eternal Youth and Immortal Traits

You might be able to turn of the aging and dying process for your sims in the settings menu, but have you ever thought about doing it on an individual basis? If so, then you need the Eternal Youth and Immortal traits mod. This mode adds two new, buyable traits to the game. Eternal Youth will stop your sim from dying of old age (they can still die from other causes, of course) while Immortal will stop your sim from dying at all despite the fact that they continue to age. How old can they get? Try it and let us know.

Go to School Mod

IF you’re an overly controlling parent and want to follow your kids to school (like you could do in The Sims 3), then you need to get the Go to School Mod Pack. As long as you’ve got the Get to Work expansion pack and have this mod installed, you can follow your kids to school, help them, and even visit the counsellor.

Go to College mod

If you want to advance your Sims further in life, then you should try out the Get to College mod for the Sims 4. It’s not overly in depth, but you can send your Sims to receive a degree in Physical Education, Fine Arts, or Music. Each degree comes with its own venues and goals, so there’s a little more value here than what you might expect.

Daily Save Mod

The Daily Save Mod won’t do anything for your Sims, but it sure will make your life easier. This mode will autosave your game once with every new Sim Day. With the default settings, it’ll save your game at 5AM every Sim Day and has seven rotating save slots so you can rollback as far as a week if you want to – not a bad mod to have if you like to fool around a little to much.
