The Best Gaming Chairs of 2020

Of all the gaming chairs available today, these are the best

Gaming chairs can feel like a bit of a mixed bag, with hundreds of choices from no-name and big-name companies.  The truth is that not every gaming chair is built the same, and the best gaming chair for one person might not be the best gaming chair for you. A gaming chair that’s too tall, for example, could lead to comfort issues, while a chair without enough lumbar support for your body style could lead to back pain. Ideally, the best gaming chair for you will help maintain an ideal posture whether you’re in it for 1 hour or 10 hours.

With all of this in mind, we’ve compiled a list of the best gaming chairs in 2020, and included a little bit of extra information to help you make the right decision.

What To Look For In a Gaming Chair

The number one factor in what gaming chair is right for you, is if it has the right support to help you maintain posture. Lumbar support, or even a chair with a lumbar pillow will help keep you comfortable, but will also help you maintain posture, so you don’t develop back pain from sitting too long in the wrong position. Look for adjustable arm-rests, adjustable height, and an adjustable headrest, the latter of which is extremely important and could help prevent neck pain in you play in a reclined position.

Width and Depth Are Important Features to Consider

If your gaming chair isn’t wide enough, it could lead to pain in your upper thighs – even more so if it’s a tight fit. The depth of the seat is equally as important if not more so. When you sit with your back again the seatback, you knees should bend at the end of the seat cushion. If your knees sit too far ahead of the seat cushion, you won’t have enough support and could develop back pain or even leg cramps after long periods of time. A seat that’s too deep will force you to sit further forward in order to bend your knees and will also be uncomfortable. A good rule of thumb for seat width is that you should be able to sit cross-legged in the chair and be comfortable, with your back firmly against the seatback for the best support.

Rumor: Your Gaming Chair Should Look the Part Of Your Awesome Gaming Setup

Some people will tell you that if you’re a serious gamer, then you need to have a serious gaming chair. While this is right in terms of support and comfort, it doesn’t mean you need to buy something with over-the-top looks, an extra tall back, or excessive colors. Aesthetics aside, those tall-back chairs rarely offer the kind of support you need for long gaming sessions, so be sure you know what you’re getting into. The phrase “invest in your gaming chair like you have your PC (or console gaming setup)” is true, but that doesn’t mean you need the flashiest, trendiest chair – it means you need the best gaming chair for your body style, weight, height, and frame size so that you’re comfortable not only one hour in but 10 hours in too.

  • Intuitive tilting mechanism
  • Metal frame and center mount

Unlike some of the cheap stuff you find on Amazon rocking the Omega name, the Secretlab Omega is one of the best chairs we’ve used in our offices. It’s available in four different colors, but we’re particularly fond of Stealth black with the red accent stitching. It features a racing seat design, and while the seatback is almost flat in the middle, it comes with Velour memory foam pillows. These can be a bit of a nuisance for some, but we’ve found that the ability to adjust your seating position and position of your head is downright amazing. In fact, the Secretlab Omega made us rethink everything we liked about chairs with fixed headrests and lumbar support.

Secretlab upgraded the Omega for its 2020 lineup with the most notable change being the metal in the armrest mechanism – something that makes adjustments super smooth and fluid while increasing durability tenfold. The PU Leather 2.0 upholstery is also riduclously durable, so you can expect the Omega to stick around your man cave or gaming room for a long time to come. For those of you in a more professional setting, the Secret Lab Omega might not be your best bet – just due to its design – but it’s definitely one of the best gaming chairs of 2020 and is certainly worth every penny. • Modular design
  • Built-in lumbar support means no pillow needed
  • Sturdy
  • One of the most comfortable gaming chairs on the market
  • Subtle yet defined – okay for an office environment

The DXRacer Master is one of the best gaming chair of 2020, but it’s also more on the expensive side. We consider the DXRacer Master the Mercedes of gaming chairs, and for good reason – it redefines how luxurious a gaming chair can be. The starting price for the DXRacer is Master is $499, but that’s only part of the equation that makes it so expensive. Since it’s modular, DXRacer sells a bunch of parts that you can use to customize your chair. You can add on a mesh seat and backrest, leg rests, and even a rotating arm that can let those of you with gaming laptops game, quite literally, anywhere in the house.

With that in mind, it’s important to point out that you don’t have to buy into these features to have a great chair. The chair comes upholstered in authentic microfiber leather and features built-in lumbar support, so there’s no need for bulky pillows. There’s also a standard, rail-mounted and adjustable headrest, so you can adjust the chair to your height. Most of the chair is made out of metal, and the 4D armrests are a nice touch, too. • Best lumbar support available today
  • Perfect for people with large frames
  • Firm seat
  • Firm backrest
  • Perfect for a gaming room or the office

The Noblechairs Hero might come at a price, but it is without a doubt one of the most comfortable and supportive gaming chairs on the market today. While a lot of chairs are advertised as the most comfortable out there, the Noblechairs Hero is one of the few that actually live up to the description, and it takes things like back support seriously. It might not be the sportiest of chairs, and it’s definitely not the most exciting, but it will keep you comfortable for hours on end and it is perfect for those that work and game from the same chair.

We should note, however, that the Noblechairs hero is very firm, so if you like to feel like you have your bum on a cloud, you might want to look elsewhere. But, if you can deal with the firm cushion, you’ll find that your back will feel amazing. We even found that after a few months of use back discomfort has seemed to disappeared, which is a very nice side-effect. The chair can support up to 330 pounds and it has fully adjustable wrist-rests, something that we can’t say for anything else on this list. If you can afford the $549.99 entry price, you really can’t go wrong with the Noblechairs Hero.

  • Easy to assemble
  • Separate neck and back pillows
  • Designed to help kids maintain proper posture
  • Good for kids up to 130 pounds

For children (or even adults) under 5-feet, 2-inches tall and 130 pounds, the Arozzi Verona Junior gaming chair is one of the best gaming chairs money can buy. Corsair T3 Rush – 4.8 out of 5

The best gaming chair for those that love unique style

Seat TypeReclineWeight CapacityWeightAvailable Colors
Racing Seat180-Degrees264.5 LBS49.60 LBSCharcoal, Gray\Charcoal, Gray\White
  • Soft fabric is comfortable and breathable
  • 4D armrests
  • Memory foam lumbar pillow
  • Near-flat 180-degree recline
  • Simplistic nature is ideal for gaming and work

For 2020, Corsair gave the T3 Rush a much needed facelift, and let’s just say that it looks and feels like an all-new chair. Of all the chairs on this list, the T3 Rush is arguably the most comfortable thanks to the memory foam lumbar pillow and soft, breathable fabric. This fabric is a little more prone to wear and tear compare to chairs with faux leather, but for the price, the T3 holds its own and is rather unique without being overboard in the design or color department. The material retains less heat than most other materials, so you’ll stay fresh longer if you’re someone who sweats easy, too.

The most notable feature is the 180-degree recline angle that pretty much turns the chair into a half-bed of sorts, but more importantly, makes it easy to game at just about any angle. The styling of the T3 Rush means its perfect for people that game and handle business in the same home office, but it does have one downside. The Corsair T3 Rush has a weight capacity of 264.5 pounds and is geared toward smaller-framed people. If you generally require a larger seat cushion, you probably won’t find the T3 suitable for you if not downright uncomfortable. Check it out on Amazon for around $300 with free shipping.
