It has been a little while since we’ve heard anything about Battlefield 6, with the most recent being back in June 2020 when we heard that it won’t be a remaster but it would take inspiration from Battlefield 3. Now a new rumor, which comes courtesy of Twitter user, Tome Henderson, says that Battlefield 6 will be designed to support 128 players or more and that EA and Dice are even considering a Battle Royal thanks to the interest in games like Call of Duty: Warzone.

In response to a Twitter user reminiscing about how great Battlefield 3 was, Industry Insider, Tom Henderson, replied with the phrase “you’ll be a happy bunny next year then.” This was taken by many that the next Battlefield game – due in 2021 – would be a remaster of Battlefield 3. As it turns out, however, that isn’t the case at all.

Earlier this week, we reported that Battlefield 5 was due one more update and that Chapter 6 would be the last seasonal chapter. At the time, it was believed that Battlefield six was at least a couple of years out, with EA’s original time frame being EA’s fiscal 2022 or April 2021 to March 2022, with early 2022 being more likely. Now, a new report suggests that EA has shortened that release window considerably, with a new Battlefield, whatever it will be called, coming in 2021.
Now that Battlefield V and Star Wars Battlefront II are coming to an end, EA DICE is apparently about to shift its focus to the next Battlefield. This news comes directly from a statement made by EA via VGC:
