Google Stadia’s latest Community Blog update didn’t bring anything of real interest at first look. It listed five more new games coming to the system over the next six months (through summer 2020,) but none of them are groundbreaking by any means. But, deeper down in the post, hidden away among names like Orcs Must Die! 3 and Doom Eternal – games coming sometime this year – there hides the name Baldur’s Gate 3, a game that was announced just announced in June 2019 and wasn’t expected to arrive for some time.
So far, Baldur’s Gate 3 doesn’t have anything close to a release date. Steam lists the game as TBA and, considering the fact that it’s Larian Studios most high-profile game thus far – Divinity: Original Sin 2 aside – you wouldn’t expect a game like this to be rushed. Yet, it’s still coming to Stadia sometime this year? Something sounds fishy. Or does it?
PCGamesN decided to reach out to Larian Studios to question exactly what this little hidden announcement means and, surprisingly, the studio didn’t deny that it’s coming this year:
“We haven’t announced a release period, and were included in that lineup email in error”
In all honestly, that’s not exactly a denial – just a statement that it shouldn’t have been included in the post. We even decided to reach out in the same fashion and got the same exact response. PC Gamer reportedly got the same response as well. Either way, the studio still didn’t say that it’s not coming this year, so there’s that. Of course, you also have to factor in this cryptic tweet from January 17:

That teaser hints at a reveal of February 27, less than two weeks from now, so with a February reveal and a lot of hard, dedicated work, “this year” doesn’t seem all that far out of context. I guess we’ll just have to wait until Feb 27 to see what happens.
