According to a new report from VGC, Konami is overhauling its approach to AAA game development, and part of that plan includes recruiting external studios to develop multiple new Silent Hill games.
News that multiple Silent Hill games are currently in development at various external studios comes as quite a surprise. Konami has typically refrained from collaborating with external studios on projects in the past, and Konami was quick to deny rumors that a Silent Hill reboot was happening following rumors that new Silent Hill games were finally coming way back in early 2020.
All of the hype and desire for a new Silent Hill game, however, could have convinced Konami to do what it takes to relaunch the famed horror series. There have been more rumors about Silent Hill’s reboot than we can count, including the possibility for it returning at the launch of the PS5 and that it could have launched back in August of 2020. A Japanese horror artist hinted at a reboot back in April of 2020, and while we don’t know much, there’s a good chance that Hideo Kojima isn’t part of the project as he’s reportedly working on a completely different horror game. For what it’s worth, his plan for that game is to literally make you crap your pants, so even if Silent Hill isn’t coming, we’ll eventually be graced with something outrageously scary.
