Sam’s Story, a Sandbox-Style Expansion for Metro Exodus, Launches in February

Finally, something not so linear, am I right?

When 4A Games launched The Two Colonels for Metro Exodus, there was a lot of disappointment in the air. Metro Exodus was meant to be more of a non-linear survival game yet, here we were, following a specific journey step-by-step as it was laid out for us. All of that is in the past, though, and the second DLC for Metro Exodus – known as Sam’s Story – opens things up as it leans toward the non-linear gameplay style that made Metro Exodus so awesome.

In this DLC, we follow the story of Sam – an American marine that got stranded in Russia when shit hit the fan. He’s goal is to get back home to the U.S., but he needs to get to Vladivostok first, and that’s where we come in. As described by 4A Games, this is what we have in store for us:

Sam, determined to find a way back to the USA, departed from the Aurora to make his way through Vladivostok’s tsunami ravaged harbors, ruined industrial buildings, and crumbling residential districts. However, to complete his journey, Sam will discover that he needs every tactic he has learned so far to survive, as his surroundings prove to be far trickier than expected.

4A Games has promised it to be a “Sandbox Survival” level where we’ll expiring another “gripping storyline” with “new characters, weapons, and mutant variants” in a “non-linear environment that offers hours of gameplay.

Sam’s Story launches on February 11, 2020 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Google Stadia. If you’re a Metro Exodus Expansion Pass subscriber, you’ll get the expansion for free as you did The Two Colonels back in August 2019. If you’re not a subscriber, you’ll have to pony up $20 to get in on the new story. Check out the screen shots below to get an early look at what you can expect.
