Rockstar is adding Red Dead Redemption 2 to Xbox Game Pass on May 7, but it doesn’t come without a big fat caveat – the removal of Grand Theft Auto 5 from the subscription service.
For the uninitiated, RDR 2 is the prequel to the original Red Dead Redemption that was launched to great success in 2010. In RDR 2, you get to experience the fall of the Van de Linde gang through the eyes of Arthur Morgan, one of the gang’s most trusted enforcers. The Game Pass version that’s coming on May 7 will include the base game as well as access to Red Dead Online multiplayer mode. It can be pre-loaded now if you’re a subscriber, so you’ll be able to jump right in when the game finally unlocks.
Unfortunately, RDR 2’s arrive to game pass means that GTA V needs to go. If you’ve been playing and want to continue playing it, Microsoft will hook you up with a 20-percent discount if you want to purchase it (subscribers only.)
