Oddworld Soulstorm’s PS5 Reveal Trailer Brought Tons of Action and Mayhem

Oddworld Soulstorm looks even better in its latest trailer, but you’ll need a PS4, PS5, or PC to get in on the action

The PS5 Future of Gaming event – the very one that gave us our first look at the PlayStation 5 console – included a deep look into a number of upcoming games. If Godfall’s new gameplay trailer didn’t interest you, then perhaps you’ll like what you see in the new Oddworld Soulstorm trailer. It’s far from our first look at gameplay, but there is a lot of action, mayhem, and a lot of cute aliens being laid to waste.

Along with the action you can check out in the trailer below, the trailer also confirms that Soulstorm is, in fact, coming to both PlayStation 4 and PS5 exclusively, at least for a limited time before it’s released on console. That said, we still don’t have a release date for the PlayStation version of the game, so if you’re a PC player, don’t start holding your breath quite yet.

The trailer itself expands on the story of how Abe grows into the lead of the Mudokon uprising as he tries to embrace the power of his people. Of the action we see in the trailer, we can make out an awesome battle on a trail in the desert, some crazy mechanized factory, and all kinds of aliens being blown to bits and pieces. Of course, it wouldn’t be an Oddworld game without the trademark slapstick moments, but the trailer is clearly trying to point out that things do get crazy real fast.

If you were hoping to see a different gameplay dynamic then you’re going to be disappointed. As expected, the game continues on with the sidescrolling nature of the Oddworld games that came before it, but it does finally take more of a cinematic direction. It’s an expanded remake of Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus, though, so it really wouldn’t make sense for the gameplay dynamic to change all that much.
