Kojima has done a lot of great work in the gaming industry and is responsible for the great Metal Gear Series, the more recent Death Stranding, and let’s not forget the horror game P.T. or the canceled Silent Hills. Well, as it turns out, he has some new ideas for a new horror game, and he quite literally wants to scare you so bad that you crap your pants.
Kojima sat down with BAFTA for a short interview where he elaborated on P.T. and disclosed that he has some new “ideas” for a horror game that he’s itching to make.
“PT ended as just an experiment, but I would like to make another horror game someday. Something that uses a revolutionary method to create terror, that doesn’t just make you pee your pants, but crap them. I already have ideas in mind.”
If you’ve played the P.T. demo, then you know that you shouldn’t take his desires lightly, and it’s a shame that Silent Hills never actually came to fruition either. However, to point out why Kojima has to step so far away from what P.T. was to make his next horror game, you need to read this explanation:
“PT is special. Human fear ultimately stems from the unknown. PT was an experiment in producing an effect in response to that nature. So, the reaction was as expected – if anything we could say that it was a great success as a teaser. PT was a mysterious game, created by a mysterious studio, with no previous announcement or information, so it used forbidden techniques to increase fear. It was a one-off thing, so we cannot reuse that method again.”
Unfortunately, none of this plays off on the rumors that Kojima was working with Konami on a new Silent Hill Game or that Silent Hill could return as a launch game for the PlayStation 5. In fact, Konami even shot down those rumors just a couple of weeks ago, so I wouldn’t get my hopes up that Kojima is thinking along the lines of Silent Hill. Instead, his next game is going to be some that is, probably, a hell of a lot scarier.
