Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Multiplayer will be free to play starting today, April 24, 2020 at 6PM and will remain open for everyone to play until Monday, April 27 at 6PM.
This is the second time in the last month that Activision has decided to offer up Modern Warfare Multiplayer for free. It’s obviously an unspoken agreement between the company and players to stay indoors, but the company hasn’t exactly confirmed that the free-to-play weekends are directly related to the current crisis.

As was the case last time, access to multiplayer will only be available through the lobby of Call of Duty: Warzone. If you haven’t installed it already, you better get to it now. That baby, for a free game no less, touches close to the 100GB mark (anywhere between 83 and 103, depending on platform) so it’s going to take you a while to download it even with the best connection. Activision has even put together a special playlist:
“Now’s your chance to get to know Modern Warfare Multiplayer combat in two concentrated, visually stunning settings. You’ll be able to experience 6v6 and 10v10 gameplay with Modern Warfare and free-to-play Warzone players alike. And, you’ll get a deeper knowledge of the weapons and equipment you’ve encountered in Warzone.”
That special playlist includes five different maps, inlcuding Hovec Sawmill, Talsik Backlot, Aniyah Incursion, Hideout, and Shoot house. As far as we know, the only match styles available are 6v6 and 10v10, but that’s only what’s been confirmed and there could be a surprise or two in store for us.
Needless to say, now is the time to check out Modern Warfare multiplayer if you haven’t had the chance to try it out yet. It is similar to Warzone, but it is a very different experience. The games are, in general, faster paced and gameplay is way more aggressive. With that said, you sohuld check out how Infinity Ward is combating cheaters in Warzone and everything you need to know about Modern Warfare Season 3.
