Horizon: Zero Dawn 2 Is (Almost) Officially a “Gigantic” PS5 Exclusive

The latest reports suggest that Horizon: Zero Dawn 2 has transitioned to next-gen development, but it’s not the only thing on the table.

Guerrilla Games was developing a successor to Horizon: Zero Dawn, and there’s even a plans for a full trilogy in the works, but the real takeaway from the latest report out of VGC is that is that Zero Dawn 2 was originally a PS4 game, but now it’s set to be a PS5 exclusive and is already well underway.

That report paints Zero Dawn 2 as “gigantic in scope with a larger game world and more freedom to explore it than in its predecessor.” It’s also suggested that an abbitious co-op feature could be included as part of the package. Even more interesting is the word that Guerrilla had intended to release a “standalone co-op game preview,” but as of now it’s unclear on whether or not that is still happening. If it does, progress from that stand-alone co-op could carry over to Horizon: Zero Dawn 2.

Some of this isn’t surprising as a deleted tweet that we reported on yesterday suggested that Guerrilla Games was hunting an AI developer for a PS5-specific game. The tweet was quickly deleted and reposted without the #PS5 hashtag, but it was already too late to take it back. There’s no telling if Horizon: Zero Dawn 2 is set to be a PS5 launch game, but considering that it may be pretty far into development, there’s at least some possibility that it could be ready at launch, fingers crossed.
