As a third-person multiplayer that promises an antiheroic twist on co-op PvP games, Rogue Company has a lot of expectations to meet. Now, Hi-Rez has released the first gameplay trailer and it’s a thing of beauty. Well, beauty and brutal gunplay, of course.
For those of you that are unaware, Rogue Company was announced back on September 5, 2019 as part of Nintendo Direct and this new gameplay trailer is the first update we’ve had since November. In the game, you’ll play as a team of Mercenaries that all feature their own unique abilities and arguably shady tactics. We’ve learned that the female of the group, for instance, can silence her footsteps for stealthy hand-to-hand attacks while another will scatter barbed wire traps. Of course, this is a PvP game, so your opponents will have the same capabilities.
As you can see from the trailer, the game wil be packed full of environmental hazards. We spotted auto-firing security panels and the wrong zipline could send you right through a body-cubing laser grid – and this is just the tip of the iceberg. You’ll also enjoy spotting the game’s various weapons, reload sequences, and hacking abilities.
As of now, Rogue Company doesn’t have a specific release date, but should COVID-19 not cause a delay, it should launch sometime in the summer of 2020. When it comes to PC gaming, it’ll be an Epic Games Store exclusive, but it will also land on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Cross-platform and cross-progression play will be supported from launch, and Hi-Rez says the game will be updated regularly with new mercenaries, game modes, and weapons, among other things.
