Doom Eternal’s First Campaign DLC Is Finally Taking Shape

Two new official screenshots answer some questions, but raise many others

The first campaign DLC for Doom Eternal was announced before the game even launched and now, just a month after Eternal’s release, we’re getting our very first look at what that major campaign expansion entails. Two screenshots are all we have for now and, to be honest, they kind of raise more questions than they answer.

These two new screen shots reveal something very interesting. One appears to be from Urdak, the home planet of the Makyr race. The other screenshot is something we’ve never seen before and appears to be an oil rig of sorts stationed in the middle of a very turbulent ocean. With any luck, the oil rig level won’t bring too much platforming over water as that seems to be a common challenge for players.

More importantly is that the campaign is expanding, and it seems to be happening relatively soon. The original storyline in Eternal kind of left us on a cliffhanger, and there are so many different ways the expansion could go. Hopefully, we’ll leran more about the Makyr race or what Doom Slayer’s role really is in the larger universe. Does the oil rig happen to tie in with Doom 2016 where oil fracking was the leading cause of events? Hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long to find out.

On that note, we don’t know anything else about the new DLC at this time, but if you haven’t played Eternal yet, I highly encourage you to do so. It’s an awesome entry to the Doom series, the soundtrack is downright amazing, and for the price, you really can’t be mad with the sheer length of the game. And, that’s only if you play through it once. If you do hop into the latest entry of the Doom series, be sure to pay attention to in-game documents. If not, you’ll end up kind of lost in terms of the role various creatures play in the story.
