QuakeCon is always awesome, but this time around, we get our first teaser for the upcoming Doom Eternal DLC “The Ancient Gods, Part One.” The teaser itself is only 35 seconds long but between it and the words of creative director Hugo Martin, we’ve learned that not everything is right in the Doom Universe. In fact, we might have saved humankind from extinction, but we created even bigger problems.
Doom Eternal – The Ancient Gods Part One Teaser
Through the events of Doom Eternal, we were warned multiple times not to mess around with super-cosmic forces beyond our kin. But, we didn’t listen, and now there’s a major imbalance in the heavens and it’s up to us to fix it. The Ancient Gods, Part One picks up where Eternal left off, continuing the story we’ve enjoyed so far. As explained by Creative Director, Hugo Martin:
“Hell was ripped, Heaven was torn, and the Slayer’s legend grew, Your rampage of destruction saved humanity from extinction, but it came at a cost. Now there’s an imbalance of power in the heavens, and the true ruler of the Doom universe must rise to set things right. It’s all very cool, very comic-book.”
As you can imagine, the solution to the problem will be more of the same: Slaying demons, wreaking havoc, ripping, and tearing at anything that gets in our way. Regardless of what the next part of the story line holds in store for us, we can guarantee you that there will be plenty of Blood, Gore, and extreme violence to go around – if you can imagine there being anymore than there already was.
As of now, there’s no official release date for The Ancient Gods Part one, but the full trailer will be released during Gamescom 2020’s Opening Night Live event, which kicks off at 11am PT or 2pm ET on August 27, so we might learn more then. Be sure to stay tuned for updates and be sure to check out the first teaser images from May 2020 or how the first Doom Eternal DLC will make things better and worse at the same time.
