We’ve known for a while that Respawn was working on another
Titanfall game. We were hoping it was a follow-up to Titanfall 2, however, it
looks like it’ll actually be Apex Legends. The game is billed as a free-to-play
battle royal shooter that’s based on Titanfall but won’t feature any actual
Titans, if that makes sense. Outside of a
broken embargo by YouTuber TheQuartering
and tons of rumors we weren’t even sure if Apex Legends was real. Now, during
Superbowl LIII, Respawn CEO, Vince Zampella, posted the following tweet:
https://twitter.com/VinceZampella/status/1092224787928080385
Not long after that, he posted another tweet that shows off
a very vague, peripheral view of his monitor as he plays none other than Apex
Legends:
https://twitter.com/VinceZampella/status/1092259339023220736
Of course, we knew this was coming. EA flew a whole bunch of
streamers and YouTubers, and paid them,
to participate in a secret event in Los Angeles last week where they all got to
play the game. Tonight, almost at the same time as Zampella’s tweet, all of
them started posting on social media boasting about how they’ll be able to brag
all about it tomorrow. The posts were all sponsored and were...
With games like Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon consuming
so much of our time, it’s easy to forget that we once had a lot of love for
another car game – WRC. The last installment hit shelves back in 2017 and was,
well, okay at best. It was criticized for a number of things, including a lack
of drivers, technical routes, and a not-so-great career mode. Now, two years
later, we finally have confirmation that Bigben and Kylotonn have a new WRC
game in the works – aptly called WRC8 – that should address these issues and
even more.
According to a recent press release, the two companies
soaked up all the mediocre reviews for the last WRC game and have used the last
two years to put together a new product that should include better graphics,
more comprehensive career mode, and more realistic physics, among other things.
All official teams from the 2019 WRC roster will be included int eh game,
including Sebastien Ogier, Esapekka Lappi, and Sebastien Loeb. Even better yet,
WRC 8 will include the selection of WRC 2 and Junior WRC drivers and...
PlayerUnknown’s Battleground has two big flaws – the first
being that you have to actually buy the game,
and the second being that it requires some serious hardware to run on PC. That
present state of the game could eventually fade away, at least to an extent as
PUBG has begun testing a free-to-play
version that will operate more like the game’s primary competitor, Fortnite.
For now, the free-to-play version, which will go by the name “PUBG Lite,” is
only available in Thailand during the beta testing phase, which will,
ultimately, determine whether or not the game is released into other regions.
The “lite” version of the game is, essentially, that –
lighter. It will still require a 64-bit version of Windows7,8, or 10, but will
only require a Core i3 processor running at 2.4 GHz,
4GB of Ram, and Intel HD Graphics 4000 or compatible. Hard drive space required
will be shrunken down to just 4GB, at least at first, anyway. Of course, the
recommended specs (as you can see below) are a little higher, but the game is
nowhere near as needy as the game we...
Far Cry New Dawn
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBWJynT6aPg
Far Cry New Dawn is Ubisoft’s surprise spin-off that follows
up Far Cry 5. In Essence, you’ll return to Hope County where you’ll experience
a re-imagined map in a time long after the events that took place in Far Cry 5.
For now, we assume that it’s basically a re-boot of Far Cry 5 with a new storyline, new antagonists, and slightly better
graphics. Like always, it’ll be an open-world, post-apocalyptic, first-person
shooter, so it’ll be fun either way. It’ll be available on PS4, Xbox One, and
PC and will go on sale on February 15th, 2019
Metro Exodus
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75reTxXD5SA
Metro Exodus is the third installment to the series based on
the Metro Books written by Dmitry Glukhovsky. It is, essentially a successor to
Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light. Like Far Cry and Fallout, it’s set in a
post-apocalyptic world with the main focus of heading toward east Russia on a
mission to find safe settlement after nuclear fallout. Like Fallout, you’ll
battle a number of radioactive elements and mutants, but in Metro Exodus,
you’ll also experience a full year’s worth of seasons on your...
If you’re like a lot of people and are just tired of
futuristic shooters, then the 2019 Call
of Duty release could be the bandage that finally heals your wound. The news broke during an earnings call with
investors – the same one that announced the firing of 800 employees – and it
was said that Call of Duty could continue with its usual three-year development
cycle. That means that Infinity Ward is taking the reigns on this year's release and it’s been said that the new
game will be “rooted” in franchise history.
That says a lot but, at the same time, Infinity Ward hasn’t
exactly wowed the world with the last few CoD games. How do you climb out of
that hole? Well, you bring back a fan favorite – Modern Warfare. I wouldn’t
hold my breath for a reboot of Modern Warfare II, despite the fact that many of
us would love to see it, but it could end up being just as good if not better.
Now, all of these does coincide with rumors and teases from the past year or...
Anthem’s VIP demo kicked off last Friday and lasted through
the weekend, but many found it too
troublesome to even play. Some players
couldn’t get in, and those that did, experienced all kinds of issues ranging from
lack of overall performance to crashing. BioWare, naturally, sprung into action
to address concerns for those on PCs but, at the end of the day, it wouldn’t be
good enough, as there were also server capacity issues at hand. Fortunately,
this was only a VIP demo, and there’s still a public demo on the way. That will
give some players a better chance to get in and slaughter some grabbits, but don’t expect it to be a
problem-free experience either.
Accord to Chad Robertson, BioWare’s Head of Live Service,
Claims there’s a lot of work that still needs to be done after an “eventful”
weekend. In a summary of the weekend, he said that severs were stabilized on
Saturday afternoon and his team managed to maintain that stability through the
rest of the VIP demo period. The servers turned off Sunday evening as the Live
Service team walked away with a long...
After it was announced that Metro Exodus would be released
through the Epic Games Store as opposed to Steam, PC gamers all over the world
went on digital strike. It took just minutes for bad reviews to start showing
up on steam as everyone tried to protest the change in release platform.
Boycotting of the game has been in full effect since, with Steam taking
hundreds of bad reviews for Metro Exodus. Not long after that, a 4A Games
developer that goes by the handle “scynet”
on gameru forums posted a rant in Russian that
included, among other things, a claim that if PC gamers boycott the game the
next in the series certainly won’t make it to the PC.
“But! Consider the situation deeper. Someone says that they
say they crap Exodus and the previous games in the series, it will make the
world better, they will put greedy developers in their place. To this, I can answer that in a pinch, if at all
all the PC players announce a boycott of the Metro, then the next metro, if it
does, is definitely not on...
