There are a lot of fundamental differences between the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5, but one of the most noticeable is the difference in size. The Series X isn’t exactly small, but it’s nowhere near as large as the PS5. During his guest appearance on Animal Talking, Phill Spencer weighed in on why the PS5 is so large and why the Xbox Series X is able to be a bit smaller. Believe it or not, for the man behind Xbox, he’s given us the most logical reasoning so far.
During his time on Animal Talking, Spencer was asked about the aesthetics of both next-gen consoles, and he explained that engineers from both sides of the pond faced a lot of the same issues, one of the most prominent being the challenge that is keeping the consoles cool. The difference in size between the two actually boils down to how both engineering teams tackled the same problem.
Spencer’s speculation about the PS5 is that since its GPU has 36 Compute Units clocked at 2.23 GHz,...
It seems like news about the potential for sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn has just recently started circulating, but in a matter of just a few months, we’ve learned a lot. Not only is it limited to next-gen consoles but between reports that it would be a PS5 exclusive and the job listing that backed that report up, we’re pretty sure is bound only for the PS5 with some potential to make it to PC some point in the future. That said, we have a lot more to talk about than that, and this guide will get you up to speed with everything that you need to know.
Horizon Zero Dawn 2 Is Actually Horizon Forbidden West
For the past few months, everyone has been calling the game Horizon Zero Dawn 2, but now that the official trailer above has been released, we know that the game will officially go by Horizon 2 Forbidden West. That name, by the way, holds a little more meaning than you might think, as you’ll find out a little further...

This update will arrive for PS4, Xbox One, and PC and could be the last noteworthy update until the big GTA Online update that is set to kick off at the end of this year.
What New Missions Are Available with the Los Santos Sumer Special Update?
Given the summer theme, it shouldn’t surprise you that the new missions are based on the water. To be more specific, they are available to Galaxy Super Yacht owners who can play them alone or in co-op mode with up to...
Games have had dynamic weather systems in one form or another for years, but Ghost of Tsushima’s is designed to add to the game. How So? Well, the dynamic weather in Ghost of Tsushima occurs in real-time and changes based on the decisions you make. As you – or Jin Sakai, I should say – begin to move down a darker, less-honorable path, the weather too will begin to get darker. This was explained by Creative Director, Nate Fox, in an interview with Gamespot:
“The game is definitely scripted to provide more storms as you do things which are extremely ghost driven.”
For those of you who haven’t played Ghost of Tsushima quite yet – it launched on July 17, 2020 for the PS4 – the concept of being “ghost driven” refers to the main protagonists honor or lack thereof as the game naturally progresses. Without going into spoilers, Jin starts out as an honorable samurai on a mission to save his homeland from invading Mongols. In the beginning, you’ll use skills of the samurai to...
This isn’t the first time that we’ve visited the question of whether the Xbox Series X is better than the PlayStation 5 or vice versa. Industry insiders seem to claim that the PS5 is better, and an Epic Game’s boss has even said that the PS5’s SSD is “way ahead” of high-end PCs. At the same time, the Series X has had it’s own early fan club, the latest of which is Valve President and CEO, Gabe Newell.
Newell has been stationed in New Zealand for a little while now, and has recently been doing a media tour to thank New Zealanders for letting him hunker down amid the coronavirus pandemic. His most recent stop was a current affairs show known as The Project where the hosts asked him a number of gaming related questions, the most prominent of which was which new console you should buy this holiday season and which is better.

The PS4 and Xbox One have been around for some seven years, which has become about the standard for gaming consoles. The fifth-gen PS5, however, could have a shorter lifecycle and be replaced with a sixth-gen model – presumably the PlayStation 6 – in as little as five years after its initial launch. That would mean that we could be going through this whole Microsoft vs. Sony charade as soon as 2024 with the next-gen consoles launching as soon as 2025.
News that the PS5 could be the shortest generation of the console to date comes via. Digitimes, which quotes a Taiwanese supply chain with inside knowledge. In those five years, it’s reported that Sony is estimated sales topping 120 million units which would be “roughly double” the sales numbers expected for the Xbox Series X. Microsoft’s move, at this point, is still a complete mystery as is what Sony would be able to do to make a PS6 stand out against the PS5. Specs for both Series X and PS5 are well known and...
Sony is all set to launch the PlayStation 5 this holiday season, but while Microsoft is starting to kill of production of the Xbox One, PlayStation is clear that there’s still a lot to come for the PS4 and has even gone so far as to say there’s still a lot of life left in the console. Strange? Perhaps, but it’s not as strange as you might think.
Eric Lempel, the Worldwide Head of PlayStation Marketing discusses the company’s outlook on the PS4 at the end of Today’s Summer Games Festival DualSense reveal. Lempal made it very clear that the PS4 was still important to the company and that PS4 owners shouldn’t worry if they can’t upgrade right when the PS5 launches.
“We believe that all of these things combined, as well as all the other great PS5 features we've spoken about, really lead to a next-generation experience. And in many cases, we can't take everybody with us from previous consoles into that experience. You need new hardware, you need new devices to experience what these...
Ubisoft’s Looking Forward event – the company’s digital replacement for this year’s canceled E3 – came with a seven-minute trailer for Watch Dogs Legion (embedded below) and an official release date of October 29, 2020. The game will launch for current-gen systems this October with next-gen versions of the game “coming soon.” What that means is up for debate, but you shouldn’t expect to see it land on the Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5 until at least February 2021.
Watch Dogs Legion Gameplay Overview Trailer (July 2020)
The trailer for Watch Dogs Legion gives is a look at the main villains in the game – Albion CEO Nigel Cass and Mary Kelly, the latter of which is the leader of the most powerful crim syndicate in London. This is the woman responsible for money farming organs on the black market so, you know, not a nice lady. Outside of this wee also get a look into the interesting recruitment system that pretty much lets you recruit just about anyone.
In the trailer, you’ll notice a drone...
The drama behind a new Silent Hill game has been as gruesome and terrifying as the game itself. We heard new games were coming, then we heard it would return for the PS5, then in quick succession Konami shot the rumors down. A month or so later, a Japanese horror artist hinted at a Silent Hills revival, and a month after that, yet another leak said that a reveal was imminent. The trail has, for the most part, been cold ever since. So, what in the world is going on? Is it coming? Is it not? Well, known (and usually accurate) leaker, Aesthetic Gamer, has clued us in on some new facts, and now it looks like Silent Hill could be revealed as soon as next month.
Now, before we get into the tweet from Aesthetic Gamer, I should point out that he was very accurate when it came to Resident Evil Village (RE8), and has had a knack for nailing information for horror games in general. You should still take this with a grain...
It wasn’t that long ago that we got our first look at what the PlayStation 5 is capable of when Epic Games showcased Unreal Engine 5’s new Nanite technology. The graphics, lighting, and, well, everything was just breathtaking. Now, Epic Games’ Chief of Technology Kim Liberi has come out and admitted that next-gen console hardware will help developers bring their dreams to life. Those dreams? Movie-like graphics in video games.
In the latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine, Liberi laid this concept out as it relates ot him:
“It has been a lifelong dream of mine that real-time computer graphics, and in particular games, can be as believable and realistic as a movie. Next-gen graphics and processing power will not only make games more immersive but will also enable entirely new gameplay concepts that can take advantage of fully dynamic environments and lighting, much-improved physics, smarter AI, and richer multiplayer experiences.”
Make note of how he’s talking about “next-gen graphics,” and not speaking in relation to either system specifically. Epic may have partnered with Sony to reveal...
