Call of Duty: Warzone – Snipers, Shotguns, and Double XP

A new content update to Warzone brings a new, limited-time mode to be followed by double XP weekend.

Look, we know you’re tired of isolation, but on the plus side, you have more time to play video games, and this weekend is set to be a big one if you’re a Call of Duty: Warzone or Modern Warfare player. Right now, a new limited time mode has launched, and this weekend, you’ll get to enjoy double XP.

First, let’s start with that new limited-time game mode. Called Scopes and Scatter Guns Trios, things are pretty straightforward – you’ll play in teams of three and the entire weapons catalog is reduced to nothing more that shotguns and sniper rifles. As Activision describes it, it’s a “twist on Battle Royale that brings you into new ranges of play.” They should have probably just called it campers and runners, but that’s a discussion for another time.

Moving on to what is, arguably, more important: The double XP weekend. Starting April 17 at 10AM PT/1PM ET/6PM BST you’ll be able to double up all experience points earned from both Warzone and Modern Warfare multiplayer modes. Double weapon XP is included, so be sure to jump in and earn the extra XP while you can as there’s no telling when the next Double XP round will be coming. This round of double XP ends on April 20 at the same time it started.

This is the first new content and event coming to Warzone and Modern Warfare since Season 3 launched last week, and there’s definitely more to come. Just this week, Activison brought Trios mode back to Warzone after it was replaced by Quads mode, and Duos mode should be coming in the next week or two as well. What will be coming after duos mode remains to be seen, but we’re expecting more maps. Until then, why don’t you check out what you need to know about Season 3 if you haven’t already.
