Modern Warfare Season 3 has officially kicked off, and with it comes a new battle pass, new maps, a new operator, and new Weapons. This is everything you need to know about it.

Modern Warfare Season 3 Download Size
This should come as no surprise, but there’s a fairly hefty download for Season 3, but how much you have to download depends on your platform. If you’re running PlayStation 4, you’ll need 11.6 GB of space, while the Xbox One requires 13.6 GB, and PC requires 16 GB. And, don’t forget, download speeds have been slowed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, so it might take a little longer than usual for some of you to get the full download.
Alex is Back in Modern Warfare
Remember CIA Operative Alex that was presumed to be dead after that crazy explosion? Well, he’s apparently survived and is back as a playable operator – this time with a prosthetic leg. This also isn’t that surprising as Activision and Infinity Ward both teased him prior to this season’s launch.
Modern Warfare Season 3 New Maps
As part of the Season 3 update on April 8, we also get three new maps for 6v6 multiplayer. The first on the list is Talsik Backlot – a remaster and re-imagining of COD’s Backlot. We also get Hovec Sawmill, which is apparently new and described as “a sleeping farming village under peril as its main sawmill has caught fire.” Aniyah Incursion is also coming to 6v6 miltiplayer, and if it sounds familiar it should as you’ve probably played it in Ground War of 10v10 at one point or another.
Warzone Now Allows Squads of Four
If you’re tired of dropping alone or in squads of three, then you’ll be happy to know that you can know drop three other people. This is called “Quads mode,” and how it will affect the overall play in Warzone remains to be seen, but this should keep it interesting.
Modern Warfare Season 3 New Weapons and Other Updates
Season 3 only brings three new weapons – the SK5 and the Renetti. There are a bunch of new vehicle skins and some tweaks to audio, general gameplay, and balancing. The main highlight here is that Infinity Ward has fixed the OP weapon blueprint, so if you thought it was evidence that a pay-to-win mechanic was on the way for Warzone, you were inherently wrong. Over the next few weeks some more content will be launched, including a new Gunfight Map and the return of Hardhat from Modern Warfare 3, among other things.
Modern Warfare Season 3 PS4 Exclusive Content
As usual, PS4 players get their own round of exclusive content that’s free for PlayStation Plus Subscribers. This time around, you’ll get Shoot House for Survival Mode – basically a carry over of the same map found in general multiplayer mode. If you’re on PS4, you’ll also get the Combat Pack that includes an Epic Operator skin for Wyatt, a new weapon charm, an animated calling card, some Epic weapon blueprints, and a Double Weapon XP token that’s good for 60 minutes. Not exactly a big list of PS-exclusive content, but it’s exclusive nonetheless.

When Does Modern Warfare Season 3 Start?
Activision has officially announced that Modern Warfare Season 3 kicks off on April 8th. There’s no official time for its launch quite yet or word on if there will be any downtime during the transition, but it’s less than a week away, and we expect at least some changes.
New Operators Are Coming to Modern Warfare in Season 3
When Activision announced Season 3’s start date on Twitter, it included the image you see above. There are three new operators shown in the image, and you can bet all three will be part of the April 8th update. There’s also a Ghost that looks a bit lost, but your guess as to the importance of that is as good as ours.
New Maps Are Coming to Season 3
The image above also shows at least one returning map and, potentially, some new maps coming. The one in the image appears to be Backlot from Call of Duty 4, and dataminers previously uncovered hints that Village from Modern Warfare 3 is also coming. When Activision explained why Multiplayer wasn’t included with the MW 2 Campaign Remaster, it explained that it was hoping to bring more maps back to Modern Warfare, so there’s a good chance that both of these maps could come with the April 8 update and transition into season 3.
Complete Your Warzone Challenges Now if You Want the Season 3 Pass for Free!
This is the first time that we’ve seen a seasonal transition for Warzone, and there’s no telling what could be coming to MW’s latest game mode. However, with Season 2 launching on April 8, you don’t have that long to complete any remaining challenges. If you complete the pass, you’ll be able to pull in up to 1,300 COD points, which should be more than enough to purchase your Season 3 pass – assuming you haven’t spent your points on other things, of course.
For now, that’s all we know about Modern Warfare Season 3, but we’ll undoubtedly see more leaks and learn more about it in the comping days, so stay tuned. We’ll be sure to update this article as more information comes to light.
