Some journalists are already getting hands-on experience with Borderlands 3, and the reviews are surprisingly positive. The most interesting part about it, however, is the overall length and depth of gameplay. According to PC Gamer, their three-hour gameplay excursion was actually only a small part of the game. As it turns out, Paul Sage, Borderlands 3 Creative Director, the main quest for Borderlands 3 will last at least “10 times that” or at least 30 hours. And, that doesn’t include going the side missions, looting, and other fun things to do in the game.
This is good news because that means that Borderlands 3 is right on par with Borderlands 2. That game could be completed in 31 hours if you didn’t stop to explore anything, but most people put in some 120+ hours after doing side missions, experimenting with different builds, and harder difficulties, among other things. And, when you consider the fact that Borderlands 3 features “a billion guns” and “multiple explorable planets” there’s no doubt that we’ll have plenty to do. The question is, will gameplay surpass the 200-hour mark, with everything thrown in? Borderlands 3 characters will have deep and flexible skill sets, so something tells us that there’s going to be a lot of time spent on the third installation of the game.
