According to Smite’s developers, Baba Yaga was added to the game due to overwhelming community support after being the most highly requested god in Smite history. In speaking about Baba Yaga’s arrival, Svetlan Lisik, the Russian Translation & Community Specialist at Hi-Rez Studios, said:
“Baba Yaga is certainly one of the most prominent characters in Slavic folklore. It’s amazing how excited about Baba Yaga’s release all the community is, and especially Russian-speaking fans. I’m glad to see that the SMITE Goddess they anticipated the most is now living up to their highest expectations!”
Apparently Baba Yaga has some pretty chaotic and even eerie abilities, all of which match her malevolent and very unpredictable personality. She can fire long-range projectiles from her pestle, making her suitable for ranged attacks. In close combat, her self-driving hut can serve as a shelter while she throws Witchfire at enemies.
As far as her classification goes, Baba Yaga is a mage with high-ranged poke damage, and you’ll probably find her most playable in Mid Lane. Crowd control really isn’t her thing, though, so it’s best to make good use of her ranged abilities.
