Horizon Zero Dawn 2 could just be called “Horizon,” which was confirmed by a now-edited recent job posting that also tells us Guerrilla Games is aiming for “industry-benchmark graphics.” Of course, this will only be possible on the best PCs and the PlayStation 5. The listing originally referred to the game “Horizon” but has since been edited to remove that reference. Fortunately, the internet doesn’t forget anything:
This listing says that Guerrilla Games is looking for a technical vegetation artist that will focus on creating “lush and stunning vegetation” so that the studio’s world-dressing team “can deliver our immersive world with industry-benchmark graphics.”
This doesn’t come as much of a surprise, considering the fact that the studio has been trying to push its graphical dominance since the original Killzone was launched. And, since that latest reports say that Horizon Zero Dawn 2 will be a PS5 exclusive, the job listing makes even more sense. The odd thing here is that before the job listing was edited, the project was referred to as “Horizon.” This could hint that Guerrilla could drop the rest of the name altogether or settle on something completely different. After all, Zero Dawn was a concept that was key to the first game. A fresh subtitle would also make a lot of sense.
As of now, this job listing is as close to confirmation as we’ve gotten that Horizon Dawn 2, if that’s what it will be called, is even in the works. But, that doesn’t matter, because the writing on the wall says it’s coming, and it could be coming when the PS5 launches later this year. The real question now is when we’ll actually get our first look at the game. Hopefully, that comes sooner rather than later.
