King’s Bounty ll New Features and Improvements

New games usually offer a lot of improvement over their predeccessors, but this one promises the most. We’re talking about King’s Bounty II, the one true successor to King’s Bounty. King’s Bounty ll promises a lot, inlcuding a new third-person view, fewer battles, and more exploration. There’s a hex-based battleground and the ability to choose how the game rolls out. There are even dragons – let’s not forget about the flying creatures that will take over any kind of enemy, but we’ll talk about that later.

First of all, we’ll have to say goodbye to the unlimited divisions, under the control of high leadership, which in many opinions was too op. Plus it made players relay only on one unit. When we say less fighting, though, that doesn’t necessarily mean less action. The game simply expands into a greater picture. One in which we will find fights, puzzles, or simply exploration for better equipment or new units.

Kings’s Bounty ll improves the “relationship” between characters and NPC, and the most important – the relationship between the player and it’s character. This is where the third person experience kicks in, and it looks awesome, especially in some cutscenes, as we can see in their video.

Characters will become alive, or more humans than previously, dividing them into four main “classes” which relay on “human ideals”

  • Order
  • Power
  • Anarchy
  • Finesse

Each one of these attributes can also be found on NPCs, most of them will become enemies. In some cases you get to talk first and fight later. But that doesn’t mean backstabbing is impossible, it will make it more intense for players, who doesn’t love a good old fashion betrayal? With that in mind, I can’t wait to see how my “good guy” character will rain terror over unsuspicious victims

The turn-based experience was improved, and every battle will take place in different locations. If you encounter enemies on a mountain, for instance, battle will take place on a mountain. If the terrain is to your advantage, use the high ground to place archers and protect them with a mora, tanky division, which now will have a maximum of 12. Adding a limit, this will encourage players to try out every troop and change their tactics as the game goes on.

Protect the path to your archers with a division with a lot of hp, and you’ll win, well, in case of dragons I think there’s nothing to do about it. And yes, it seems that dragons will come into the battlefield, and they’re ready to spit fire into the enemies – let’s hope they will be balanced.
